what is salvation?

salvation is a free gift

There is no cost for salvation

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

A gift, by its very nature, is free. If you had to pay for it, it would no longer be a gift. Jesus payed for that gift with His death on the cross (We will look more at that in just a minute).

There is nothing you can do to earn it

Ephesians 2:8,9

8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

There is nothing that I can do to earn my salvation. I will never be good enough to get into heaven on my own. That is why Jesus died for my sins. God knew I would never be able to pay for my salvation, so He made a way through Jesus Christ.

You must realize you are a sinner

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

We are all sinners. We were born in sin, there was nothing we could do about it. It's just a fact of life that we have all sinned. Because of that sin, we cannot be good enough to go to heaven. The only person who never sinned was Jesus, and He died for our sins so that we don't have to go to Hell.

You must believe that Jesus died for your sins

Romans 10:9,10

9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We have to confess our sins to God, and believe that Christ died for our sins. Without that belief we cannot be saved. We must believe that Jesus literally came to this earth, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again.

You have to call on Jesus name for forgiveness of your sins

Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Simply call on Him today, and He WILL save you. The Bible does not say that only a that call on Him will be saved. The Bible tells us that WHOSOEVER (That means EVERYBODY) that calls on Him will be saved.

Welcome to the family!

John 6:37 "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

If you believed those things, and called on Jesus to save you, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! This verse gives us the hope that whoever is accepted into the family will never be cast out. If you accepted the free gift of salvation today, you are a part of a family that will never cast you out. WELCOME!

Now it's time to life your new life for Christ!
